Hi everyone,

this is our entry to the RebootApalooza Game Jam - we're rebooting R-Type (Original version).

Disclaimer:

Please note that although we're recreating some of our favorite video games of all times - some of them are copyrighted material  - Like in this case, R-Type is a product of Irem Software - We're not affiliated with Irem Software and we're making this project just as a sharing and learning experience during the Game Jam.   It'll just be a replica of the first level of the original R-Type (1987) - but rebooted (refreshed visuals / effects / audio) - in this case by making use of Unity Game Engine.  It will extend to no more than that.  We do not commit to finishing it, as this is a just fur fun, practicing and learning event.   We'll not make the code or assets available, so please don't ask about it.  The prototype will only be available for the public to play it while the event is running, after this, the project will be private and will only be used as game development portfolio material.

Sorry for the long explanation / disclaimer - but we feel it's necessary, given the type of material being presented.

Thanks for your kind reply.  I did always wanted to consider making a similar type of game.  I just wanted to tell that your comment kept hammering my mind this last 3 years.  Today I can finally reply to it with a nice feeling :)

I do not know if you are still around, but HUGE thank you.  I finally mange to get the motivation and determination as to help me build the 'inspired by' but fully original game I have been wanting to build ever since I got inspired by these amazing IREM's game series.  The game I'm going to build will be way different but hopefully not in a bad way.  I hope to be able to achieve the same type of feel/atmosphere to it, even while it will be based on a very different and fully original: story, content and game universe.
